The Zaphir Twilight - Autumn Season

Red and amber are the colors of autumn, of falling leaves, harvest warmth and the earth beginning to rest. They are the colors of glowing embers, ripened berries and the last rich light of the year. Red carries strength, grounding energy and a deep connection to the earth. It reminds us to slow down, appreciate abundance and feel rooted in the present moment.

Is it Autumn or Fall? Autumn comes from the Latin word autumnus, which means "the passing of the year". Fall comes from the old English fiaell, meaning "to fall from a height" - so the two words are interchangeable when you think of the fallen leaves.

Fall greets us with rich colors, full of green, red and yellow. Thanksgiving is coming and we celebrate what nature has given us over the year. The corn is ready to harvest, pumpkins are decorating our homes and Mother Nature is showing her beautiful colours.

The Zaphir Twilight greets this season with its overtones, though it is not overwhelmed by them. You have a mixture of high and lower tones that is still very powerful. It comes in the tuning E, G, B, C, E, G, B and C and its beautiful dark red fits this season perfectly.

Which chakras do the Koshi Terra and Zaphir Twilight resonate with?

The rich, grounding tones of the Zaphir Twilight resonate deeply with the Root Chakra (Muladhara), located at the base of the spine and associated with stability, safety and our connection to the earth. The color red awakens our survival instincts and primal energy, reminding us that we are supported and nourished by the ground beneath us. When the Root Chakra is balanced we feel secure, grounded and anchored in our physical existence. The Koshi Terra likewise resonates with grounding, earth-connected energy, making both chimes powerful tools for anyone seeking to release fear, build a stronger foundation or simply feel more present and embodied.

Feng Shui

In Feng Shui the Twilight belongs to the Metal element, which governs clarity, precision and the strength to let go of what no longer serves. Place your Twilight in the Relationships area (Kua 6) to foster harmonious and fulfilling connections, or in the Helpful People area (Kua 8) to attract supportive networks, mentors and allies into your life. The Koshi Terra is also a great chime for Feng Shui, associated with Knowledge and Wisdom (Kua 4). The deep, powerful tones of both chimes carry a quality of refinement, harmony and inner strength.

Native American Zodiac

The Twilight is the chime of the West Wind and the autumn season. In Native American astrology, the West Wind brings transformation, introspection and the wisdom that comes from change. The three signs it governs are Raven (Libra, 23 September - 22 October), known for balance, diplomacy and a keen sense of justice; Snake (Scorpio, 23 October - 22 November), known for deep intuition, transformation and emotional power; and Owl (Sagittarius, 22 November - 21 December), known for wisdom, vision and the pursuit of truth. If one of these is your sign, the Twilight may feel like a particularly resonant and personal companion.

The Koshi Terra resonates with the earth signs Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - signs known for their groundedness, patience and connection to the natural world. Want to find your Chinese element and matching chime?

How do the Koshi Terra and Zaphir Twilight differ in construction?

Both are handcrafted in France with eight precisely tuned steel rods, but they are built differently. The Koshi Terra uses a bamboo veneer tube and represents the Earth element - its sound is warm, settled and bell-like. The Zaphir Twilight uses a long-fibre celluloid tube shaped to Golden Ratio proportions, representing the Autumn season - its sound is crystal clear with a slightly warmer, longer decay. Koshi chimes are a little more melodically active; Zaphir chimes carry a more resonant, lingering tone.

Which chime is better for grounding and meditation?

Both chimes are exceptional for grounding, meditation and relaxation. The Koshi Terra, with its C major tuning and earth-rooted character, is ideal for practices focused on stability, presence and deep connection to the body. The Zaphir Twilight, with its warm autumn tones and slightly longer resonance, supports introspective meditation, letting go and transitions. If you seek rootedness and calm, both are wonderful companions - the Terra perhaps slightly more grounding, the Twilight more reflective and releasing.
