Koshi Ignis vs Zaphir Crystalide

In this post we compare the Koshi Ignis chime to the Zaphir Crystalide. When you hear these samples you can experience that the Koshi has a much more bell-like tone and the Zaphir Crystalide a very crystal clear sound. The Koshi Ignis and the Crystalide have the same tunes, only in another order - some are pitched, some not. We experience the same with the Koshi Aqua and Zaphir Sufi. Curious about what Zaphir chimes sound like? We have a full overview for you.

The Zaphir Crystalide - Spring Season

Green is the color of spring, of new leaves unfurling, fresh grass and the world waking up after winter. It is the color of hope, growth and new beginnings. The Zaphir Crystalide represents spring and is a beautiful sonic bridge between winter and summer. It is not as rich in overtones as the Sunray but has more overtones compared to the Blue Moon. Its gold-green colors combine the warmth of the rising sun with the freshness of nature waking up - a perfect expression of change and renewal. Not sure which color suits you best? Combine the Crystalide with Other Zaphir Chimes

Curious how the Zaphir Crystalide sounds together with the other Zaphir chimes? We have created a series of sound samples where you can hear each combination. Listen to all Zaphir chime combination sound samples and find your perfect pairing.

For a more dynamic melody we recommend pairing the Crystalide with the Sunray - the Crystalide supports the Sunray in the higher tones beautifully. For a more relaxed and meditative sound, pair the Crystalide with the Sufi.

The Koshi Ignis - Fire Element

The Koshi Ignis is tuned G B D G B D G A. This tuning shares the G-B-D foundation of the Koshi Terra but adds an A note that creates a forward-moving tension with the G tonal centre before cycling back. Where Terra returns always to G and rests there, Ignis reaches toward A before returning - creating the acoustic quality of energy organised and directed: neither frantic nor still, but purposefully moving. It is the most dynamically active of the four Koshi tunings, energising without being harsh.

The Ignis is ideal for practices aimed at motivation, transformation and the release of what is no longer needed. The fire element in most traditions is associated with transformation - it changes everything it contacts. Ignis is the right acoustic companion for practices that involve letting go of old patterns, setting clear intentions or activating energy that has been dormant. Chakra

The fresh, uplifting tones of the Zaphir Crystalide resonate naturally with the Heart Chakra (Anahata), associated with love, compassion and harmony. The color green symbolizes growth, healing and heart opening, encouraging us to connect deeply with ourselves and with the natural world. The Koshi Ignis resonates with the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - the centre of will, confidence and personal power. Together these two chimes cover both the heart and the will, a beautiful pairing for any practice working with self-empowerment and open-hearted energy. Feng Shui

In Feng Shui, the Zaphir Crystalide belongs to the Wood element and resonates with Kua 2 (Knowledge & Wisdom) and Kua 3. Place your Crystalide to invite growth, new beginnings and expanding awareness into your space. Looking for the ideal spot? Read our guide on the best placement for your wind chime.

How do the Koshi Ignis and Zaphir Crystalide differ in construction?

Both are handcrafted in France with eight precisely tuned steel rods, but built differently. The Koshi Ignis uses a bamboo veneer tube and represents the Fire element - its sound is bright, energising and bell-like with a forward-moving quality. The Zaphir Crystalide uses a long-fibre celluloid tube shaped to Golden Ratio proportions, representing Spring - its sound is crystal clear with a slightly warmer, longer decay. Koshi chimes are a little more melodically active; Zaphir chimes carry a more resonant, lingering tone.

Which chime is better for energy and transformation work?

The Koshi Ignis is the stronger choice for practices centered on motivation, releasing old patterns and activating dormant energy - its fire element quality drives movement and transformation. The Zaphir Crystalide brings a lighter, more expansive spring energy that is ideal for new beginnings, heart opening and fresh starts. Used together, they make a powerful combination: the Ignis activates and transforms, the Crystalide opens and renews.

How does the Zaphir Crystalide sound with the Zaphir Twilight?

The Crystalide and Twilight together create one of our favourite combinations - a fresh, dynamic melody that moves between the brightness of Spring and the warm depth of Autumn. It is not too high and not too deep, full of life and perfectly balanced. Listen to our exclusive sound sample and discover how opposing seasons can create something truly harmonious.
